Logbook requirements
for Level 4 Racing – 25 races (5 away), 15 as Helm.
IMPORTANT: Please note the Logbook requirements for Level 3 and Level 4 Racing.
Logbooks should be kept up to date and it is expected that Level
3 participants and upwards would be sailing regularly outside the
Course. Sailing for Juniors starts in June (with training commencing
in April) so there is plenty of opportunity to fulfil these minimum
requirements. For away events sailors should consider competing
in Lough Derg Annual Regatta or some of the many Regional events
around the Country. Please consult the Club Programme for Junior
Events throughout the year.
Details
of the syllabus for Advanced Sailing Skills Level 4 are in the logbooks
– the skills covered within this course are similar to those
required of the ISA Instructor Pre-Entry Assessment and those wishing
to train as ISA Instructors at a later stage should ensure that
they have these skills.
Allocation
of places will be on a “first come, first served” basis,
as we have a limit on the number of participants appropriate to
the facilities available at the premises. Priority will be given
to children of existing members provided Applications and Fees are
returned by the due date.
Please
note that the Executive Committee will have no tolerance for non-compliance
with live-aboard berthing allocations. Participants may be requested
to leave the course if they are involved in berthing disputes.
For
those wishing to hire a Pico from the Club for the Sailing Course
please note that this year preference will be given to Level 1 or
Level 2 participants. Before booking a place on the Course those
wishing to sail Pico must have secured their place in a Pico by
completing an Application Form and returning with appropriate fees
to Denis Bergin at 27 Caislean Riada, Coosan, Athlone. Application
Forms will be available on the Website www.lryc.ie or from Denis
at 0872253190. A place in a Pico must be confirmed before sending
in Course Application.
All
boats must be insured as per the Club rules and for Insurance reasons
all sailors must be Club members. The Junior Subscription is €130
per child. Family Membership is €370 plus €100
entry fee and €50 development levy.
N.B.
A Junior Sub. is payable by a first-time sailor participating in
the LRYC Sailing Course. A full Family Membership is required for
all children wishing to participate for the second or more years.
Membership Application Forms are available from the undersigned
or from the Hon. Secretary, Ms. Georgina Kenny.
The
practice of having a parent on shore at all times is essential to
the successful running of the Course. Parents of participants will
be required to be in attendance on shore to supervise on at least
one morning or afternoon, including lunchtime for each of their
children sailing.
If
anyone has a boat to sell, rent or loan for the duration of the
Sailing Course, please letme know as there are always people looking
for boats, particularly beginner boats, at this time of the year.
PLEASE
READ THE ENTIRE APPLICATION DOCUMENTATION CAREFULLY.
The attached Application Form together with the appropriate fee(s)
ahould be forwarded by April 29th 2005 to:
