Welcome to the LRYC Junior Sailing Course 2020.

We are delighted to advise we will be running a 2 week sailing course from July 20th to 31st .

Unfortunately, this year only, due to COVID restrictions we will not be running the Cara na Mara
Scheme for our younger sailors. This means that Otters, Seals, Dolphins and Orchas courses
will not be held this year. In addition, we cannot run our normal Start Sailing program.

To ensure we meet all Government, Health & Safety and ISA guidelines we are aiming to restrict
the numbers to approximately 50 participants, current club members will be prioritised in the
event of over subscription.

Certification will be possible this year, but will not be the focus of the course.  The focus will be on getting out on the water and enjoying the sport.  This year in particular, with the restriction of 2 weeks there is no guarantee your child will achieve their level.

For the Level 4 Courses this year, no definitive decisions have yet been made but we will most
likely run Advanced Boat Handling and Kites & Wires. For those specifically interested in honing
their racing skills, we will try and accommodate this too but we do not at this stage have plans to
run the Go Racing course.

A limited number of Club boats are available for hire, including; Optimist, Pico, RS Feva, 420,
470, Laser Bahia on a first come first served basis.

For all specific information and conditions relating to our Junior Sailing Course we would ask all parents/guardians to click Lryc Isa junior sailing course information

There will be additional H&S requirements associated with the course this year such as;

  • Pre-Course Health Declaration form to be signed and submitted by all participants and
    instructors
  • We may ask all parents to take their children’s temperatures each morning before
    arriving at the course

This year the course will be almost completely outdoors, therefore in the case where activity is not possible due to bad weather or other conditions, participants may not be allowed to remain on-site.  Parents must be available to collect their children from the course at reasonable notice.

These measures will be confirmed and explained in detail in the coming weeks.

NOTE - completed application form does not guarantee a place on the course. This will come
into effect when the ratios of instructors to participants is finalised and all Covid measures have
been confirmed.
